Royal Caribbean will increase Onboard Gratuities

Next month, travellers in staterooms will see an increase in automatic daily gratuities of more than 10%.

From September 7, Royal Caribbean will charge passengers in non-suite staterooms $16 per person, per day.

That is more than the existing automatic addition to a passenger's SeaPass account of $14.50 per person, each day.

Suite visitors will also see a rise of more than 5%, from $17.50 to $18.50 a day.

Royal Caribbean stated in its instructions that "the gratuity applies to individual customers of all ages and stateroom grades."

Gratuities are distributed among the dining, bar, and culinary services employees, stateroom attendants, and other hotel services teams.

Although the cruise operator stated that the gratuity is "based on conventional industry standards," passengers may always ask for the amount to be changed.

Additionally, a gratuity of an extra 18% is automatically added to all beverage, mini-bar, spa, and salon transactions.
