‘Lock&Key,’ the debut song by Lolahol as Madonna’s daughter,
Madonna‘s daughter, Lourdes “Lola” Leon, has shared her debut single ‘Lock&Key’ under the artist name Lolahol.
The 25-year-old dancer and model’s debut single was released on the Chemical X label, which is run by Eartheater, a New York-based experimental pop musician. Along with Leon, Kiri Stensby (also known as Hara Kiri), and Samuel Burgess, Drewchin also contributed to the song’s co-writing and co-production.
Leon’s smooth vocals are positioned over glassy synths, growling sub-bass, and frantic electronic beats in the hyperpop-oriented song “Lock&Hey.” It came with a Drewchin-directed video as well, which you can see below:
In an interview with actress and family friend Debi Mazar from back in October, Leon talked about approaching her creative endeavours from a variety of angles. “I don’t have a clear objective. I should probably. I prefer to include all of those aspects of myself into my work because I have a really distinct sense of style and I’m interested in aesthetics,” she added.
“I’m still unsure about how I feel about acting. Finding a position that wouldn’t be too far from who I currently am, in my opinion, is the key. In all honesty, I can’t stand being around actors. I can sing, so that’s music. Simply put, I don’t give a damn. Perhaps it’s too personal.
When questioned about her favourite musical genre later in the chat, Leon responded, “I’ve always been a huge house and techno lover, ever since I was small.
A 50-track collection called “Finally Enough Love,” which Madonna published last week, honours the singer’s record-breaking 50 number-one hits on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs list.
Madonna and Nile Rodgers reunited at a roller disco earlier this month in New York City to celebrate the album and talk about how they came up with the song “Like A Virgin.” Questlove of The Roots performed as a DJ during the occasion and mixed Madonna tunes with other dance favourites.
She most recently appeared on a remix of the song “Break My Soul” from Beyoncé’s album “Renaissance.” The new rendition, dubbed “The Queens Remix,” incorporates a tune from Madonna’s 1990 song “Vogue.”
In a recent interview, Madonna said she’d “love” to work with Kendrick Lamar and praised his most recent album, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” for being “history-making” and “mind-bogglingly fantastic.”
