Anne Heche in a coma after car crash, says rep
Anne is currently in a very severe situation. She needs mechanical respiration due to a major lung injury, and surgery is needed to treat burns. She is unconscious and hasn’t awakened since just after the accident.
The Emmy winner was reported to be “in stable condition” during the weekend following the Friday vehicle accident that sent her to the hospital. Heche, 53, was operating a blue Mini Cooper when she crashed through a house in Mar Vista, Los Angeles, setting the automobile ablaze.
Despite earlier reports that Anne Heche was okay, her publicist explained to ABC News on Monday that “shortly after the accident, Heche went unresponsive, slipping into a coma.”
The Los Angeles Police Department previously told Yahoo Entertainment that investigators had a warrant to draw Heche’s blood after the collision to see if she had been drinking.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, it took 59 firefighters 65 minutes to access, contain, and completely extinguish the stubborn flames inside the severely damaged structure. They also managed to rescue one adult female found inside the vehicle, who was then taken in critical condition by LAFD Paramedics to a nearby hospital.
