Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Next Iron Fist, as Performed by an MCU Fan
Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been recast as the next Iron Fist by a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After cosplayer and fan @bobbincolin was asked who would make a decent substitute for actor Finn Jones from the Netflix series, fan @clements.ink was inspired to produce a stunning work of fan art imagining the Avengers: Age of Ultron actor as the MCU’s new Danny Rand/Iron Fist. Taylor-Johnson was recommended by the cosplayer, and @clements.ink created a portrait of him in a Marvel Comics-authentic outfit that included the Defender’s distinctive bandanna mask, green jumpsuit, and glowing gold fists.
Iron Fist made his Marvel début in the pages of Marvel Premiere #15; it was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane (May 1974). The protagonist, Danny Rand, spent some time as a youngster learning martial arts in the legendary city of K’un-Lun. Danny refuses to accept immortality and instead comes back to Earth to exact revenge on his parents’ murders by transforming his hands into enchanted iron swords with the help of his chi.
In 2017, Netflix released the Netflix original series Iron Fist, starring Game of Thrones actor Jones as Danny. Contrary to the critical acclaim that other Marvel Netflix series like Daredevil and Jessica Jones had received, the first season of Iron Fist received mostly unfavourable reviews while drawing significant audiences. Jones’ acting in the series and its plot were lambasted by critics and viewers. With Danny losing his chi skills in Iron Fist Season 2, the focus moved to his martial artist lover Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick). Critics praised the enhanced combat scenes and shift in the storyline, but a month after the release of Season 2, Netflix cancelled Iron Fist as part of their strategy to gradually phase out all Marvel projects.
Jones has already revealed information on a possible Season 3. The actress remarked, “I was really eager to get into that. “It was actually going to be about Danny eventually embracing the Iron Fist persona, complete with all of the necessary skills, energy, and self-control. It was going to be this incredible tale of Danny and Ward, who were going to travel the world together almost. Then there was Colleen in New York, alone with this new power, trying to understand who she was and what this power meant to her.”
